abcnews.go.com — By filling 15 percent of your car's gas tank with ethanol, you can bring down the price-per-gallon from $3 to about $2.40... Of course, if you don't add the ingredient that makes ethanol unfit for human consumption, you would find yourself with something else: 190 proof moonshine.

Almost any engine can be adapted to run on methane or natural gas. methane is vented from landfills by the tons daily, and is free. Think of all of the organic waste matter that we produce here in America. All of that can be digested into methane.

If you bought it, a truck brought it!Yeah, my mom is dating a trucker and has that T-shirt. Needless to say, we'd be screwed without the truckers.

@screensnotThe funny thing about that 9/10 of a penny is that is a federal tax that was added onto gas. It always gets round up if there is a fraction left, so unless you by 9 gallons of gas or any multiple of 9, then the man is getting an extra penny out of you every time you go and fuel up.

Ethanol is good for corn growers, but adding acetone might be a better choice if you're serious about improving gas mileage. See: http://digg.com/science/Acetone_In_Fuel_Said_to_Increase_Mileage_2

Octane ratings do not equal better MPG ratings. They are two different things. You get less miles per gallon from alcohol than gas. Mixing it at a 15% ratio helps to hide the effect, and also keeps things like seals and gaskets and sensors from going bad, things that would disolve over time in a pure alcohol enviroment.

I think what should be stated here is that we already have zero point energy... which is FREE energy. Only reason why gas is still needed is because the evil SOB's that really run the US want to sap every last dollar out of the remaining oil on the planet, while destroying the environment in the process. Had to say it.

Hey, here's what I'm framing my alt-fuel decision by: check out my digg to Chuck Klosterman's (author of Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs) article about why he SUPPORTS Ethanol. He's also got a synopsis on the current (s**tty) economics of the modern farmer on the page. Here's the link straight to it: www.esquire.com/ESQ0506KLOSTERMAN_66 (The article was originally published in Esquire Magazine.)

Bringing down the cost of gas is helpful, if this is true good to see that E15 is becoming a reality now
