lewrockwell.com — Is Goldman Sachs manipulating the gasoline futures market to push prices down before the November elections? It sure looks that way. An article appeared this Saturday in the New York Times pointing to some unusual trading by Goldman Sachs in the gasoline futures market.

@AlwaysDuggDown The polar extremes of the political specturm will always see this as some kind of political move and in many ways it is, but not a rep. or dem. move. Its pretty well known that any economic situation happening in the present is attributed to the president and his party regardless if he had any influence over the current economic situation. So if the economy is doing well that is if they have more spending money ie lower gas prices people will say these good economic fortunes are because of a good president. What I'm trying to say is that both parties play the same cards hoping to retain power.

Worst part is that it's from a libertarian site and libertarians are supposed to have a good grasp of how market forces work. I guess even libertarians are not free from the occasional conspiracy theory.And..."SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Oil climbed above $60 a barrel on Monday as OPEC plans to cement a deal to cut production and after North Korea increased geopolitical tensions with its first nuclear test."Prices back over $60. Time to blame the pubs.

People, as I read the article more carefully, I don't think the author is saying that the government is manipulating prices. I think he is basically explaining how goldman is being a good businessman. He knew that gas prices would plunge because it is as you guys said...the driving season is over and demand for that kind of gas is decreasing. So prices will decrease. I personally don't believe in the conspiracy that the government has something to do with this. If they did...and people believed it, then I would be investing in gas right now....trying to make a fortune off of it.

Jeffick:Hey, I like those articles when they write about totally wierd things like shaving cream or even shaving itself. I've seen articles on lew rockwell on how to make your own booze or even eating properly. Now, one would ask "how does this relate to capitalism or even pro-market?"My thing is that it relates because shaving, drinking booze, and eating properly is manly. Since capitalism = manly, all of those things relate to manliness.

I Belive that Gas prices will never drop below $1.00 a liter again and that the way gas prices are ever climing that the futer of muscle cars will be gone. I belive that gas prices are on the rise so they can psh out cars like that and bring in gay ass hybrid cars. Although better fo the environment there are tons of othere things that can be way more helpful to the environment. For example there is a power plant about 45 minutes away where they put a filter tha is leting out about 2.5 percent pallution the rest is just steam wich may or may no be true. When they where asked if they where going to do that for the other 3 smoke stacks they said that they where looking into it. Its been 6 years since they said that and nothing has been done
