Well without any idea when this was made, it's pretty hard to tell how ''surpsisingly close" they are. Sure, it looks old, but it's just kind of fishy that there is no reference to any kind of source/copyright.
Well, considering the Xbox 360 as the first piece of hardware the Unreal 3 engine has been released on, and it's huge GPU/memory bandwidth (256GB/s), you would absolutely need 1 gigabyte RAM on an average computer to get similar performance.
The ultimate game, in some sense, already exists exactly in stated form. At the CU Boulder east campus they have a cubicle with 4 projected walls (Left, Right, Front, Bottom) You wear goggles to experience the projections in 3D. I saw someone playing Quake 3 in it, and it was pretty cool. Cost? ~$50,000
