I don't game on my PC but I'll use every core / cpu you put in my box. I'll gladly pay for the bleeding edge too. I use linux 100% of the time. So there are a plethora or reasons why a quad core pc would be worth having now. Or a 400 core processor for that matter. Games are the least of my concern.

Am I the *only* one still using a standard P4 and happy with the fact that it actually has Hyperthreading?! The only thing non-standard about my CPU is the pin # (LGA775). I just upgraded to this from a P4 2.4GHz just over a year ago, and now they're coming out with Quad-Core CPU's? Hell, I'm still stuck with an nVidia 5700LE. And you know what? I still play Half-Life 2, Doom 3, and F.E.A.R., albeit at lower resolutions, but they still run. It's these dangum early-adopters that make it so I can't possibly play newer games. They get these huge new gaming rigs every freakin month, and immediately demand a higher-end game to test it.THINK OF THE POOR PEOPLE DEVS, THINK OF US!!!!

use 2 cores for the game use the 3rd to run a dedicated server and the 4th to render new movies for your ipod............... i do that tons

i could have sworn it was 1 license per computer, not processor, dual processor server systems would need 2 licenses then! boy am i glad i use mostly linux
