joystiq.com— A reader's poll at Joystiq shows that readers are more excited over Nintendo's possible offerings at E3 than Microsoft or Sony's, even with the prospect of PlayStation 3 demos.

"If Sony doesn't have a playable PS3 available, on the floor, for all to play by E3, they won't be making a successful November launch if they launch at all because no one would be stupid enough to put down $400-500 on a system that they can't try first."Hate to bust your bubble there scooter but nothing at E3 is "for all to play," E3 is for the industry members/press only.
I must admit, I was quite suprised. dugg. However Sony and Nintendo have been relatively equally tight lipped.Though the spotlight has been on the Revolution's secret the PS3 could still have some amazing announcements at E3 and they certainly won't give up without a fight.Best E3 ever.
Things do change, but Nintendo neither has the cash nor the brass to go up against Sony and Microsoft (which is why they aren't even trying). A gimmick controller is not going to get them the top spot on the carts this time around, and they aren't going to be as "third-party centric" as the other two consoles. The only player that has the chance of dethroning Sony this time is Microsoft, and we all know how the Japanese refuse to buy that machine.
"hardcore gamer" is really too broad a term... it really depends on what kind of games the "hardcore gamer" is hardcore about. A hardcore FPS gamer will probably go for the XBox360... but microsoft is notoriously weak in the RPG realm so the hardcore RPG gamer will wait for a PS3. Nintendo offers a good mix of everything, but for myself (in the hardcore RPG category) PS3 is the only real option... everything else is fluff I get when I want a new toy and have the extra cash.
I don't know about the FPS thing. I'm a hardcore FPS gamer and I won't touch a console controller when it comes to them...maybe on the revo if it is as responsive as a mouse, but even then I think PC's will always be king of FPS due to all the mods and customization you can have. Agree 100% about the RPGs. That's pretty much the only reason I bought a PS2. Square and Nippon Ichi own me, so when they have games out i'll be picking up a PS3 :p. Hopefully after the first price cut.
"You can take this to the bank: the bulk of PS3 and 360 sales in the next couple of years will be because one is a BluRay movie player and the other is an HD-DVD player. Not because of the awesome games."The 360 is not an hd-dvd plaver
