businessweek.com — Are expensive bundles of next-gen consoles, games and assorted add-ons just one big con? Rather than offering a standalone console for purchase online, it would seem that GameStop/EB are "forcing" consumers to commit to expensive packages.

Eventually, you can. Any time soon? Doubtful.

Ceadda you're forgetting the games and accessories.everyone knows that consoles aren't where the money is. it's software and peripherals.and in terms of ebgames/gamestop, it's buying and selling used games and DVD's (they do that too).i just recently got a job at ebgames and i'm already starting to hate it because i'm REQUIRED to ask each and every single person if they have anything to trade when they come in the door and when i ring them up for a sale. also a little window pops up whenever we have a used copy in stock of whatever someone is buying telling us to ask if they would prefer to buy preowned.and NSMike: consoles lose money for the game manufacturers, not retailers.and unlike sony and microsoft, nintendo does sell their consoles at a profit as well.

they aren't forcing anyone to buy them. People need to chill. They are acting like they are forcing people to buy the console package. You could get it else where if you didn't want the package and it;s price.

I'm planning on selling a PS3, and buying a HDTV, a 360, and Gears of War to go with it. Hooray for people that will pay ludacris amounts of money for things!

I bought a 360 from Gamestop and had no problem. They had plenty in stock and had just received the Gears of War console set that included the game and a carrying case. There was no pressure to get anything more. They didn't even try to upgrade my Core system to one a more expensive Live system. Maybe it's just me but for my experience nothing like this could be further from the truth.

Because the try to FORCE you to only buy the bundle. I stopped buying from them way before this. The employees are indifferent and act so fraking stuck up if you ask any question they consider not to be worthy of their feigned knowledge base. I

I see someone making a medal and it becoming a wild internet phenomena, as some fat kid dances with a Wii and his medal.

I hate Gamestop. I visited the store in Kernersville, NC on 4/3/07. I brought a playstation 2 in to sell and they advised me that they would buy it for 35.00 providing that I bring the cord and controller in. I agreed and got the requested items and brought them back the next day. When I returned they advised me they would not give me the 35.00 but 20% less than that. I asked why they didn't tell me that the day before and they replied that that's their policy. They did not answer my question and simply refused to give me the 35.00 they promised. Then they said that they couldn't buy the system at all because the door was missing. I asked them why they didn't say that the day before because they looked at it and said they would buy it but now refused. They didn't have an answer and refused to buy anything I had. The system works fine but they still refused after I made the second trip to sell it based on their initial promise to buy it. I will NEVER patronize their store again or any other gamestop. I advise anyone thinking of doing business with this establishment to stay away! They are not reputable people.
