galciv2.com — "Some site is claiming that we want Galactic Civilizations II to be pirated. That's total rubbish. Of course we DO NOT want our game to be pirated. We're a small company, every lost sale hurts us." News from Digg gets to companies fast.

I know the guy. He apologised personally to me, and did his best to make amends. digg apparently won't *let* him delete the story. As for wikis, people are optimistic because, despite the problems, both mythical and real, they do work out in the end. Bad things like missed false edits do happen, but they are exceptions to the rule. Look at the GalCiv Wiki: http://galciv.wikicities.com/ - only a week, and 200 pages. Most of them are very good yet, but they're a start, and it's improving every day.

Yeah, this game sounds cool, where's the demo? Don't make me get out bittorrent.... :)Since I'm on a pretty restrictive budget, when I find a game I like, I buy it and play it for years on end. Like Homeworld. I STILL play that.

stupid IE only website... what's with that?

I salute the developers refusing to put in all kinds of copy protection schemes. Look how this game is selling...it is PROOF you don't need aggravating DRM to protect your product.

would any of you happen to know the web site name of the people who have a pirated version, like warez.com etc, i know allot of the ass h**es personally that run these web sites, and this is going to far. i pissed off and i need a word with these people, note: i blame no one for downloading an illegal copy, it is human nature to snatch opportunity, i just wish you wouldn't. so any of you have the web site?

Bought a nice shrink wrapped copy of galactic civ II in the UK a few months back (serial is on CD, so not visible until opened).Opened it a few months later (yesterday) and tried to register - 'cept someone has stolen my serial apparently so I can't. So I can't get the updates I paid for. And support don't want to know about it (they keep claiming I have bought a second hand copy; e.g. calling me a liar)Stardock, steam, whatever-the-heck-they-did-on-Bioshock - forget it. I'm sticking to games where you pay money and you get the game. To own. Looks like it's either (a) argue with big company whilst they ignore me (b) screw that waste of my life and download a crack online. Tricky choice.
