chron.com — Family members of three people slain by a 14-year-old on newsman Sam Donaldson's New Mexico ranch sued the makers of the video game "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" on Monday, claiming the crimes would not have occurred had the teenager never played the violent game.

Jack Thompson is a turd. He's constantly using his right to free speech, but hates it when his name and public information about him is involved, and is broadcast on the radio. And whatever happened to thomspons famous war on rap music? Oh yeah, it was replaced with the war on violent video games, just another american war that has no basis of merit, supporting evidence, or factual claims. Just another WMD in the desert I guess.

I think Jack Thompson needs to stfu.

That's the joke. The killing will never end. Nor will the suing.

@ icantdrawanimeCouple of corrections for your post:-The coffee lawsuit was against McDonalds, and sadly that woman won. For those that don't know, she purchased the coffee, and placed it between her legs rather than a cup holder and then sued because the top came off, coffee spilled on her thighs, and scalded her. -The lawsuit against the RV dealership about cruise control is an urban myth, and never actually happened, see: http://www.snopes.com/legal/lawsuits.asp.-The fat food(pun intended) lawsuit was actually against several fast food corporations and not just McDonalds. Here's one that I heard in my Ciminal Law class:-Boy riding his bike at night, hit a car(parked), and then sued because he "didn't know that you shouldn't ride a bike AT NIGHT without a headlight". Can't remember if he won or was put out of his misery due to a mercy killing.

"Come to think of it, how will the Wii be effected by this? I mean, now you really ARE pointing and shooting, and also slicing with a sword..."Sure if the Wii controller weighs several pounds and acurately replicates the distrobution of weight of an actual sword (most of the weight is in the blade) then sure, the Wii could be blamed for teaching someone how to use a sword. The worst the Wii controller could be realistically (we're not talking Jack Thompson's skewed view of reality here) be blamed for is teaching someone how to use a remote control pointing device. So next time someone is murdered by laser pointer, blame the Wii.

Tochi, does sarcasm always fly right over your head? Or was this just a one time thing?

Those dumbs**ts, they don't know what the hell they're talking about. I mean, I've seen some 3 year olds get that game and you don't see them shooting up some dude because they played it. Oh dear! I played Mario Kart and now I'm gonna drive around in an Escalade hitting people and screaming "BITCH!!". For all I care they just want some cash, video games don't do that. they CAN'T do that unless the dude playing it was a total retard. It's the parent's fault anyway, they bought the game in the first place, it should be their responsibility.
