Why are you always logged in??I would have maybe considered this article worth digging if it was pointing to the original source on googlfied. As it is, it just looks like another lame attempt to get blog traffic, and even worse, it appears to have worked. Yet another digg miracle.
Err. P.S.Guys if your using the test site please create a dummy account and add some useless emails. Although I'm not harvesting your account (so your safe if you trust me) but my hosting just called saying my access_logs bloated. So please, create a dummy account first and add bush to the contact list before testing. I'm adding more tests scripts using other sources of the contact list data such as google notepad and google groups. Thanks.
@m3mn0nNo, its not a matter of free speech (its more freedom of information thing), its a matter of people needing to know why this occured so that they don't make the same mistakes. Sure not everyone on digg is a developer, but a bunch of people here are, and without some kind of coverage and examples of the implications of these issues people will either not know they exist or will fail to remedy them in their own software. And I steel find your desire to supress _information_ (not speech), even if it is to 'protect' people worrying.
I admittedly love using my gmail account, it's an easy way to converse with friends. But the bug is one of the reasons I tend to be worried when using this style of email. I still prefer to use my outlook because of the additional programs I can use in coordination with it. I also enjoy the ability to have my emails backed up on my PC instead of the web. I understand that it is very convenient to have gmail aggregate all your mail. What happens though when you close your other email accounts and something happens on the the web server where you lose emails. Its probably just me being crazy but I think I will keep any crucial information on my other accounts a little longer.
A year later and GMail support groups are full of complaints about spam to all their contact list, some stating that the original spam is in their sent box so it must be coming from their account. I've seen the headers of one of these emails and they do look genuine although I'm not an expert on headers.Doug

You deserve to have your information stolen if you are so gay for using Google.
