silvermac.com— Everyone saw that video and everyone knows it's a con. But what are the real boot up times ? You'll be very surprised to see my test results. or maybe not surprised at all.

Am I the only one that thinks the boot up time and general usage speed on my Mac mini 1.25GHz 1GB RAM is just fine? It seems everyone is always saying how slow G4s are but honestly I use Windows on PCs all day (good ones, too) and I really don't find there is a whole hell of a lot of difference. Granted, I'm not doing any video encoding or anything like that. Then again, I'm not doing pointless benchmarks and comparing tenths of seconds or anything, just using my computer.
apple is gay. they've always claimed to be faster than intel, now they're claiming intel is faster? Gay. If the G5 in that video has nothing wrong with it, apple really proved how gay they were. gay.
I got a 700mhz G4 imac and it's faster than the one on the video. Once in a while it takes longer on start up but that's like 1 in 10. (probably scanning or repairing)
You guys talk about boot time like it's the most important thing in the world.I know of a 64-way Opteron dual core rendering cluster that takes over 30 minutes to completely boot (for various reasons), but I guarentee you, it is way faster in the OS than your little iMac core duo piece of s**t.Just an example.
"So you run your computer around the clock all day everyday? Do you do the same with your car, or your TV? I never understood people who just let there computer run none stop when the only use it a few hours a day. It is unnecessary wear and tear on you computer."Wear and tear occurs in mechanical devices...such as cars. Computers have very little mechanical devices to wear out. The mechanical device that will wear out in a computer is a first is the hard disk, but that is only if it's being used. Well, when a computer is idle, the hard disk head is parked, therefore no wear and tear on the disk. Now, yes there are other mechanical features to a computer, such as the buttons and the cd rom drive, but those of course also are not being used while idle. The only mechanical device in a computer being used while idle are the fans. And for the TV comment, that is why monitors have energy saver settings, that has nothing to do with the computer. You don't understand those who leave their computers on because you are an incomeptent novice who knows very little about how computers work. Don't lecture people on things you don't know anything about.By the way, do you think the computer in your car shuts off when you turn off the ignition? I'm guessing you think it does, and you would be wrong.

my new G5 2 GHZ at work starts up in 40 seconds, hell my mini at home still starts faster than that iMac on the right.

So what! I just saw this video for Vista, and it looks just like Mac OSX anyway.
