xboxfamily.com — While the FF XI required the HDD for it's online gameplay, the 360 on the whole didn't require the HDD for gameplay. That's all about to change with the recent development in 360 news regarding 360 games needing the HDD due to DVD's lack of disc space. This news could mean the 360 can now handle titles like MGS4 that require a HDD to cache off of.

By that logic, I should be able to buy a Core model and play everything out of the box, but wait, I mostly can't since I can't save! This goes back two generations. This is good for everyone, and the Core is the lowest selling model, anyway.

If this is true, it is very good news. I just hope Rockstar has enough time to take advantage of it in GTA4 before it's released.Wouldn't it also be feasible for some games to have optional hard drive caching? The game would still be playable without the hard drive, but you'd get better performance and faster loading if you do have it.

if it does end up happening.. perhaps we can compare ps3 sales to xbox 360 non-core sales.

I say about time that. Xbox requiring a HDD that is.

And now you need a HDD to play Burnout Paradise online.
