hcs.harvard.edu — Yesterday, in preparation of the public funeral that will take place this Saturday, members of Harvard College Free Culture entombed the recently-deceased Digital Rights Management in Quincy Courtyard at around 5 PM. As part of the healing process, all the attendees took part in saying goodbye to DRM by constructing its coffin.

This isn't "Harvard's server" but 'a' server at Harvard. Harvard has dozens of department servers, websites and intranets that aren't at all related or running on the same servers. My company for example is doing the intranet and public website for another (can't say which) Harvard department. Ours would have not gone down unless every bit of traffic from Slashdot and Digg all at once converged on it... and even then it would likely just get slow. I find the main irony here to be that it's the HCS website. Have to see if they too are interested in a server upgrade :)
