ipodhub.net— According to anonymous film industry insiders Apple has been asking studios to include iPod video content on Blu-ray discs.

How can anyone in their right mind think the MPAA would allow someone to RENT a Blu-ray disk at Blockbuster and then have the video on their iPod for as long as they want? Would it be DRM'd to "expire"?P.S. Why would digg spell check not know "MPAA", "Blu-ray", "DRM" or "iPod" for craps sake? Isn't this a tech news site? :-)
@ wilkeson, Actually I've noticed recently that a lot of my netflix movies are a rental only copy, they have no disk art they are just a silvery disk with the movie title that says "Rental only" on them, it would actually probably be in the studios best interest to have two different versions of the disk even regardless of if they put I-Pod content on or not to prevent the rental places from selling the disks after their popularity declines and they no longer need X number of copies to keep up with demand.
^ no, but they are coming out with a version that will have like 4 gigs of built in flash memory and then you can also add your own memory stick (sizes on those are continually increasing).
Now If only Apple could find a way to squeez more life out of the IPOD video whille playing those videos themselves... that would be nice. that way i can watch LOTR withought having to have a battery expansion pack connected.
I just do it and ignore the law.Who honestly cares what that law says. They can threaten and cry all they want, Im gonna break the law and I will never ever feel guilty for doing it.
Skeletal..you really are a moron. You post lies, and then yoou qquote links that were ridiculously biased. You live in your own world and think that you are like most people, which..thankfully...couldn't be frurther from the truth. The average gamer...the VAST majority of them, don't giv a f**k about the root kit "scandal" (they don't even condier it a scandal) of hte delays. They care that when it comes out, it plays really cool games.the PS3 will sell far more units than any HDDVD player will,. That will give Blu-Ray the early advantage. Whether it is good enough ot keep that advatnage is another thing, but it will have the early lead.At least in the real world. Not sure about how things will play out n the alternate universe you have come up with for yourself. You know, that world where the RIAA has said it is illegal to put your CD on the iod, where no one is waiting for the PS3, and where women don't laugh at you.
True or not, this is still a pretty good idea. Think of it as an extra feature along with all the other stuff you could cram on a disc. The idea that you'd buy a movie once and have access to ready made portable verison of it in addition to the mondo size HD one makes a lot of sense. It takes me hours to back up a DVD and then transfer it to the Ipod -- imagine how much longer that process would take with HD files if they didn't give us a hand. Also, remember that Sony and Apple have often worked together, especially when Apple was first pushing the idea of Final Cut HD - the Sony HD Cam was part of their initial presentation.
Agreed. It's a great perk...but I can't see using it. If this is true....Apple needs to make sure they revamp the ipod with video because the battery life when viewing video is horrendous. That's the only reason why I haven't put any full-length movies on it.
