kotaku.com — The Timesplitters and Second Sight dev says they're just going to require a little more horsepower under the hood. "Is there going to be a Wii version? There are currently no plans for a Wii version of Haze. Sadly, the cutting-edge technology we're using requires more power than the Wii has available. If we could, we would."

Actually, "Hardcore gamers" are going to buy the Wii, they are going to buy the 360, they are going to buy the PS3 and they going to buy the Evo and other systems you are not "1337" enough to hear about.

@pagani07v2: Just because the games cost less doesn't mean that developers make a smaller profit. PS3 and 360 dev kits are WAY more expensive that Wii dev kits. And I wouldn't be surprised if Sony and Microsoft charged heftier licensing fees. The PS3 is supposedly being sold at a hefty loss. Sony's got to make that money up somewhere.

"Power is rarely the limiting factor on AI any more. More frequently the limiting factor is programming. Even more frequently the limiiting factor is player skill or controll scheme. AI that is too smart is impossible to beat.Game world complexity and size is a budget issue first and foremost. After that, it's a disk storage capacity issue. Console power is pretty far down the list for this one."Power and AI do not go hand in hand? Game world complexity does not rely on power? What about walking into a town that is multitiered and devoid of any doorways inhabited by 100 NPC that speak and react on the fly to the events of the world around them. Paths being created that leads to random encounters that may or may not have someones predisposed opinion about the other person. Oblivion is just the beggining. Most of the reactions and encounters for that game are scripted still."Loading times? Err, because the PS2 has lower loading times than the NES, right? Oh, wait, that's right. Higher resolution textures, more complex models, etc, translate to longer load times. Well, that and shoddy bottlenecked console design."Yes the PS2 would have a lower loading time if it was loading the same information. Power does help loading times, no matter what flawed comparisons you can come up with."Physics, I'll give you. Physics are one thing that takes a decent ammount of processing power. Then again, there's talk of a PPU on the Wii, but I don't really believe it. Also, HL2 can be played on a 1.2 GHz processor and that has pretty good physics, imo."Im sure the wii can have some sort of physics on there. I could just be an optomistic gamer, though."Gaming has reached a point where hardware is very rarely a limiting factor when it comes to actual gameplay. Even those last two you listed (loading and physics) aren't really gameplay issues."Loading, AI and Physics affect how you enjoy a game overall. If a game had great gameplay but you had to wait 15 minutes for each level to load you might get boreed really quickly. AI and Physics have changed gameplay in a very large way. The core may stay the same but how you go about it will change. Compare the stealth to goldeneye(one of my favorites) to that of Farcry. Both are run and gun games but it is more intuitive to distract enemies in farcry and the Ai leaves you on the edge of your seat at times. In goldeneye if you know where the alarms are, you know where the enemies are headed for as soon as they sense you around.

I really doubt they're going to be jumping to such unreachable heights over their last games in such a short time. It's probably laziness more than anything else motivating this decision. They either don't want to commit the manpower to the controller or really have nothing new to offer but shinier graphics.

>shakes his head< Alright, so how about this whole "I am l33t" B.S. get settled now 'eh? If you ask me a 'True Gamer' does not care *what* system a game comes out on as long as a game is fun! Will I buy a PS3? Eventually. Will I buy it at $600? Only if it includes a pair of nice young ladies who will obey my every command ;) That is just me though. The PC is NO BETTER OR WORSE then the ____ (Insert preferred console here). They all have problems and advantages. That being said...Free Radical I think its just being a bunch of lazy S.O.B.'s giving a HORRIBLE excuse to not develop for the Wii. Come on...it can't handle your engine? Guys, last time I checked the VIRTUAL BOY could likely handle the engine you use. We really aren't talking the Source engine or something from Crytec here!

Well the engine they are developing is going to be just as modern as Source or Cryengine. Here is a screenshot. http://hazegame.uk.ubi.com/images/01.jpg

Free Radical is not some "backwater shop" they are made up of many of the people who worked on GoldenEye 007 for the N64. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_Radical_Design

This is very disappointing. I'm a huge fan of the Timesplitters games, and I would've thought that the Wii would be a great system for Free Radical to strut their shooting stuff.

By definition I am a PC gamer, and with that i have also purchased an xbox 360, so hopefully i will get to enjoy haze in one form or another, Having said that it does bother me when any developer drops support for any platform. The wii may not be as powerful as the other two, but it has done something that Nintendo rarely has done with me and that has peaked my interest. I would really like to see all three do well, but for me its probably going to be the wii60 package :)
