Dunno! I stumbled upon it by chance. Loaded it up in winamp, figured it was just a new app icon or something. Then switched skins, saw the same design in an "album art" window.I don't think there's any meaning behind it - I just enjoy seeing new album art ;)
You know, every once in a while, I read some of trents lyrics, and I always read the same thing: Me, pain, my, me , me , obscure reference to dark pain and then some. I simply don't get the attraction of hearing a rich guy whine about how he's got all this pain and angst and blah blah blah. If you don't believe me, just read the lyrics to this song, it's ALL about emo pain, and it's incredibly old by now. I had my brief period of liking trent, but I grew out of it when I realized that nearly all his songs follow an identical theme: emo pain, trent, more emo pain, and then some more trent and then dark obscure reference. And also, to those saying that "trent is reshaping the entire music industry on his own!!!1111" wow, seriously, if you're that deluded perhaps I can sell you the Thames while I'm at it, I SWEAR I own it, I've got the authentic papers right here! Trent is just another artist trying to cash in on being a "rebel" while in reality he's just using all of you deluded fools to fill his coffers with gold. He broke with his record label because he knew it would net him more cash, not because he was lacking any kind of "freedom", seriously wake up and smell the "trent is a f**king sellout and has been for the last decade" coffee. Yes, I'll agree that the labels are bad news for artists, but saying that trent is a "hero" or some retarded s**t like that for leaving is just idiotic. Also, you might wonder what Trent wants with your emails if he's such a philantropist, does he perhaps want them as a secured new channel for his upcoming albums? All you trent fans are a secured demographic now, I hope you enjoy your label, because trent certainly is while he's laughing all the way to the bank.
For the people bitching about why NIN requests a valid email address is the answer really that freaking difficult to comprehend? Last time I checked bandwidth cost money and high availability bandwidth costs even more... so Trent and company are currently LOSING money by allowing anyone and everyone to download the 8.5MB file for FREE! So, by requiring a valid email account they can ensure that they get the most bang for their buck with bandwidth and that people that take that extra step will probably listen to the song, rather than the thousands that would download it simply because it was free and not give it a listen. The actual file is hosted by topspin.net a new and still in beta digital distribution corporation... and the fact that even with the digg effect downloads took all of two seconds I'd imagine Trent is paying a pretty penny for the service. They also request a Zip Code that may help them in marketing the album or requesting more plays from various radio stations but at the end of the day they are still paying to put something in your pocket for free... honestly, who doesn't have a "spam" email account setup anyway, what is this 1996? So stuff your conspiracy theories about Trent's spam-bot ambitions and go discuss 9/11 being an inside job already.
probably because all the songs you listed are a decade old.it's time to face the facts - trent isn't the same person he used to be. the horrified anger is gone, and rightfully so. the man is in his 40's and off drugs - now he can strip himself from the whole 'tortured maniac' facade and just be a musician making the music he wants to make.but if year zero taught us anything it's that he still knows how to f**king rock ;)
