free.thelinuxstore.ca — TheLinuxStore.ca has started a new project. A project that will give away free Linux disks of your favorite distribution (SUSE, Fedora, Mandriva, Gentoo, Debian, Knoppix). Have a look, give feedback, donate to the cause, request a disk.

Ubuntu was founded by Mark Shuttleworth, a millionaire. I don't think they're millionaires. Could explain it.

This is a great idea. :) To anyone wanting to use Ubuntu, but having an older system, try xubuntu. On apentium 3 with 128 mb ram, I get a 15 second boot time. 10 seconds for all the stuff to start up to the login screen and about 5 seconds to load the desktop. The machine works very fast. And you can apt-get anything thats already in the ubuntu repositorys. It runs xfce4.

This is simply unbelievable! Who would spend money, so much money, for something that doesn't bring profit? Imagine how many people are already asking for a DVD. The demand can only grow as the word spreads. It's very hard for me to understand how can somebody spend so much and ask nothing for a change.

After reading all the comments, i come to the conclusion that there are many ppl who want linux and dont know which distro and thr are others who can download the ISOs but they are still requesting for free cd/dvds. This is wasting lots of resourses.Anyways, i didnt order anyting but will donate to this project.I am a student and use openBSD at college.

Simplest way is to just go to the Distros website and download it.You will need a speedy download connection as they are generally between 500mb and 4500mb (DVD of course). You will then need some software (Nero or similar if your a Windows user) and burn the files to a CD.Good luck!
