rmitz.org — I was this close to slapping one of them and causing a scene -- then I stopped and noticed the shirt I happened to be wearing that day. Sure enough, it had a picture of a small, devilish-looking creature that has for some time now been associated with a certain operating system. In this particular representation, the creature was wearing sneakers.

I think I first heard this story in about 1985. Can you say "urban legend", kiddies?

Real or not I think it's funny and worth the read.I doubt it's true though. I have a hard time believing any two people in one place can be that ignorant.Though they say happiness is bliss and I'm known for being a fairly joyful person.

thealliedhacker: I'm also a Huntsvillian, and I hate the bad rep that the South gets. The sad thing is... it's even worse in the northern states! Sure, they have the terrible accents or the obnoxious amount of conservatism, but the density of stupid people and rednecks is much much higher. And are you sure that only 10% of Huntsvillians are rocket scientists? I have always thought it was closer to 20% or 25%.

Can you read? The articles title is “FreeBSD Daemons and Texans don’t mix” in what manner does that refer to a small batch of Texans? It seems to be pretty straightforward in its assumption that all of us should be included. As for England being a third world country.. I don’t believe so, however you presented yourself with such arrogance and of such an uneducated stature that I figured you to be of some poverty stricken welfare state. You must simply be an obtuse tosser who doesn’t know what the f**k you are talking about.

@stevennutzJust a word of advice...You probably don't want to embody the ignorant angry redneck stereotype if that's what you're trying to argue against.

So many people in this country talk on and on about acceptance and ending bigotry, yet they feel it is acceptable to continue treating their fellow countrymen like crude joke material. I know that everyone will get a real kick out of the fact that I live in Waco, Texas. I have had to live with countless cracks about cults and "wackos" when the majority of our country is oblivious to the fact that the incident in question happened closest to a town called Elk about 30 minutes outside of Waco. Most likely I will be labeled an ignorant Bush loving hick because I am so unfortunate to have been born and raised so close to Crawford, Texas where he bought his "ranch". People don't realize that our economy has suffered terribly because of the stigma of being associated with him. I'd like to share a little known fact with you... we have the privilege of having our local tax dollars used to pay overtime for local law enforcement shifts to provide extra security for the Bush and his agents during is frequent visits. Meanwhile, the rest of the country has the privilege of looking down on a state they only know from old westerns and bad movies. The people of Texas are intelligent, capable, and quite civilized. It is far easier to take the low road and belittle someone than to get to know the facts... the sad thing is that when do so, it only shows the lacking qualities of your own character.
