breitbart.com — Sanchez was a 28-year-old utility infielder beginning only his second full season in the majors and didn't become a starter until early May, yet hit .344 - the Pirates' highest average since Roberto Clemente's .345 in 1969. Sanchez's 200 hits were the second-most by a Pirates player, to Jack Wilson's 201 in 2004, since Dave Parker had 215 in 1978.

Anything can happen, given a few good decisions by management (yes, and some money). Look at the Tigers this year compared to two years ago, as an example. I still have hope for Pittsburgh.

I can still see Sid "Bad Knees" Bream limping around third...

Hey, give Jim Tracey time. He's a great manager and this team was handed to him. Give him some time to craft things and re-establish their farm system.

Paulino is a good catcher. We need to move Nady to right field and get a power hitting 1st basemen. We need help at 2nd and SS.Freddy is solid @ 3rd.Bay has "bases empty" power. His numbers are solid, but he never performs when it matters.

Try MLB batting title. Sanchez basically took second place....so who really cares. The Joe Mauer story is much more interesting. He is only 23 years old, and is the first catcher in the HISTORY of baseball to get the MLB batting title. Not to mention it happens on a night where the Twins snatch the division title from Detroit who held it all season. What a great day for baseball.

No chance al long as McClatchy owns the team. He's got to be the weak link. Something's just not right there. I grew up a little ways north of Pittsburgh, and now live in Rochester, home of the Twins AAA club. I've watched Santana, Mauer, Bonzer, Liriano, and a bunch of other great players come through here and to Minnesota. What about the A's with Zito and company? White Sox won the World Series. Detriot as well. Why can't the Pirates do the same? Has to be management.Oh, and now that the Twins are out, go Tigers (Jim Leyland and Van Slyke are there).
