arstechnica.com— It requires four people, it costs $170, and you need an entire large room to play. We rock out with Rock Band to see if the high cost of entry is justified.

The part that disappointed me the most was hearing that while the GH3 guitar works with RB, the RB guitar doesnt work the other way around. The RB guitar seems like so much more fun. Larger controller, clickless strum bar and extra set of smaller buttons near the bottom of the neck for solos and tapping just sounds so much better to me. I hope they do something about this
As a bassist I found Rock Band to be very hard (and I'm decent at Guitar Hero)... I learned the real bass part to Dani California and tried the song in Rock Band at Best Buy and didn't hit a single note. The timing is MUCH MUCH less forgiving than Guitar Hero II or III....But the drums are INSANELY AWESOME, and vocals aren't bad either.
Furthermore, how can you say that the controller feels like garbage, and then pick up a GHII or GHIIII controller? I know for a fact that my GHII guitar feels a lot clunkier and size wise is way different to me than a real guitar. The Fender, while not perfect, is a big step up over the GH guitar.
As a budding drummer myself, it'd be a great way to practice keeping tempo (which I have all sorts of problems with), especially since it's so much of a hassle to set up my own set.
