autoblog.com — Ford released pics of its F-150 "mobile office" concept that will debut at this week's SEMA show in Vegas. It shows some kind of mount emanating from the center armrest that holds a ruggedized tablet PC capable of on-th-go communication and even purchases via a credit-card swiper.

this is a really good idea for contractors and other people who need the functionality of a computer on the road. Not a big Ford guy, but they did good here.

Why does an F150 not seem like the sort of vehicle in which a mobile office would be necessary? Maybe it's just me...

"Why does an F150 not seem like the sort of vehicle in which a mobile office would be necessary? Maybe it's just me..."That's because it's for an F250 not an F150. Way to read the story.

Poor Ford! They'll do anything to make their cars worth buying. So much for misguided patriotism for those who still buy American Cars! With that said, I hope they do improve their cars, because right now, they just suck!

I would prefer to see bluetooth connectivity with my truck than a tablet PC or mini PC

I think this is a silly idea. Why not just buy a tablet PC separately? I'm sure some company must make a ruggedized tablet if that's what you really need. I am also sure that if you really wanted to mount this inside your truck that an aftermarket mount will be available. I tend to keep my vehicles longer than I keep my computers anyway.
