blogs.moneycentral.msn.com — Ford chief executive Alan Mulally makes no secret about his love for the Taurus. Ford had already killed the car when Mulally joined the company in '06, but he brought it back. Now, he's is hoping a new version of the Taurus will help save his struggling company. There's no doubt that Taurus was a huge hit for Ford. But can lightning strike twice?

Or you can take that factory and finish the waiting list for the mustang.

The SHO beats the V10 S6 to 60 by .2, that might be what he's talking about. It's from the car and driver review.

Ford should get rid of their logo and come up with something new. It really ruins the aesthetics of a good looking car.

Nah, you guys don't know your history. Ford's CEO is not a genius, and Ford is not a successful car company. The reason why they seem to be in better shape now during the Great Recession, was that they nearly went bankrupt a few years before the Great Financial s**tstorm. Ford, its that low point, had to clean up its act sooner. Their CEO is NEW (and thus unproven). Its sheer coincidence they're doing "well" now. They merely had less debt and more cash/loans in reserve, so they didn't "need" a bailout.

He's talking about size not platform.

hey there genius, they did that, they called it the 500 and nobody bought it.This Taurus is really good, i've managed to get some seat time in one and it's a flipping spectacular vehicle with tech that'll make the Germans look like they've been standing still for a decade.

netant: so older people don't buy a nice sport car? they don't buy a the nice Benz or BMW? They don't buy the very large house they don't need? P.S. I'm 30 years old. The Taurus never had a big appeal (at least from mid 90's and on) outside of car rentals and company cars. The Taurus was the low end company car most people got. Those with some pull got better cars.

They tried offering the Mondeo here... In 99->2003, it was callled the contour and the mystique... Flopped royally

The Mondeo is as small as the Fusion. The Taurus is bigger than anything offered in Europe
