spiegel.de — The Kenyan economics expert James Shikwati, 35, says that aid to Africa does more harm than good. The avid proponent of globalization spoke with SPIEGEL about the disastrous effects of Western development policy in Africa, corrupt rulers, and the tendency to overstate the AIDS problem.

I think microloans do help individuals create valued businesses in the contries where they receive them. But, and its a big but, if their governments are opressive, they may not be allowed to compete at higer levels."Sell your meat on a stick on the side of the street, but only my buddies can open resturants" is what I am getting at. If rule of law is corrupt and protection is afforded to those who can afford it, then well that sucks. It does suck blind justice is neither blind nor just; speaking of the US and every other ruined people./And I wouldn't say that labor from oppressive regimes was monocausal iin Hong Kong's success. Every place with a fake economy, eventually fails.

i not talking abut every other missionary.. well i'm frm the land of Mother Teresa .. and she wasn't lyk all those missionaries who try to convert ppl .. she was truly a gr8 lady..but there are hardly few names lyk her in the list of missionaries .. who are purely for the purpose of helping.. mostly the thing goes on dark of conversion .. this conversion has created a big problem in india .. after lotss poor people were converted to Christian's .. some Hindu organization started to protest against them ... and caused couple of people to loose their life....Isn't it bad someone who comes to help people looses his life.. he must not n i'm against those who used violence.. but then missionaries should also keep in mind that they are to help not to spread their religion.. n if they want to trade help in the name of spreading their belief then plz pack you bags@gabriels i respect you views n wish every one who comes to work as missionaries believes lyk you@tim .. why can't we respect other religions.. there can't be one supreme religion in this world...g

"Money + Africa = corruptionAbsence of money + Africa = bloodshed"therefore Africa = corruption - Moneyand Africa = bloodshed - moneytherefore corruption - money = bloodshed - moneyinteresting.but corruption != money. it describes the false sense of distribution of money.

Um Mother Teresa was not a great lady. She believed that the poor she took "care of shoud" remain poor. She thought that the sick she took "care" of should stay sick and not receive general analgesics for chronic pain. She thought that the sick she "housed" should not have nice surroundings and not have visitors to brighten up their spirits. Now why you ask? She beleive that suffering was the path to Jesus. What a great lady indeed. Great if you are a westerner and are not a sick and poor. She also lauded Papa Doc and his beneficial impact on his nation. She is not a great lady. She sucks. And if I saw her, I would tell her to f**k off. The poor deserve thier lot, what a ****.Just read the wikipedia article. At the end of the gushing praise are four links that are critical of her. Read them and let me know if you still think she is so great.
