Having exclusivity to player names does not mean that much. EA makes the FIFA games every year, but proevolution soccer trumps it. Personally I used to buy proevolution soccer (winning Eleven) even without any of the teams having the correct names and players.The better game comes ahead

Good point, if so little about the game changes, why buy what is essentially the same game every year?Plus, sports games depreciate in value incredibly fast. Madden '07 is like $7 now, and Madden '08 probably costs about $20.

Problem is that EA has the exclusive license to the NFL franchise and its players. So creating your own just will not cut it.
