My parents have chickens, and because the cost of grain is up it's more expensive to keep them. So really it's just getting more cost effective if you grow veg, but meat of all kinds is more expensive to raise because of the feed prices.
Not only that but in the UK prices have risen due to crop price inflation and the ban of almost all meat from Brazil as the EU is there working on its suntan. They will then hit Namibia and Argentina to do the same. As a Chef, it is becoming quite a hardship because, for some reason, it costs more to buy produce from your own country than from somewhere else in the world. Go figure!

Fuel is up.I just talkedto a cow calf operation that fertilizes pastures for better grazing and the cost per acre has tripled in 4 years. not to mention hay and feed supplements.The reason farmers are making money on grain and soy beans is the ethanol plants radius of consumption are overlapping.
