eecue.com — Flickr used Dave Bullock's pic on their blog. When he nicely asked them to give proper attribution by using his real name and not his user name in the post, Heather refused and then removed the pic from the post. The photo was under the CC BY-NC-SA license.

flickr has done some great work, their commitment has waned, as evidenced here. I hope they snap to.

Flickr doesn't want individual Flickr users to become "stars"... that's why the "explore" section is constantly changing to prevent any one person from getting too popular. The flip side of "giving everyone a chance to be in the spotlight" is "not allowing anyone to stay in the spotlight for too long".

I find both of those issues a concern, but I'm not sure how that relates to this issue I had with flickr.

This is a great example of cubicle thinking. Rather than approach this as a human being, Heather obviously chose to respond in corporate speak. And people want to know what's wrong with big companies!
