So basically they're patenting any and all algorithms that take in tags, hits and timing to rank things... brilliant. This oughta get thrown out right away...
my guess is yahoo/flickr is planning to implement the structure on a large scope. definitely! most of the article numbers i read are to so to protect the idea that has not yet be so sophisticatedly implemented on flickr. me thinks yahoo's up to something!
Patents are getting more ridiculous every day...I'm just writing one about air breatheability, so watch out next time you breathe... you may owe me money!
Hope everyone starts looking for a new service right away, and that at the very least all free software applications that may support APIs from Flickr/Yahoo discontinues this support. The message needs to be sent, loud and clear: this is not acceptable, and now we are taking our business elsewhere.

How you can come up with 77 reasons you should be given the patent for "Interestingness" and 41 ways to explain "Interestingness" is way beyond me.
