i'd like to see a list of this in chart or something- some way where i don't have to click 50 times to see the highs and lows.(highest level of non-religious i could find was washington state, lowest was alabama)also, it'd be interesting to see this broken down by country in an international setting.
The old testament is the law of moses, aka the 10 commandments, while the new testament is about Jesus Christ fulfilling the law of moses and bringing to pass the higher law.So to recap the old testament teaches a eye for an eye while the new testament teaches of Christs teaching. Teachings such as if some one hits you turn the other cheek. If someone sues you for your hat give them your cloak too. Help the poor, feed the hungry. etc. Although technically christanity existed before the law of moses but was only institued among the 12 tribes of israel because they were unable to follow Christs teaching. Here's some more info on the subject: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_testament
Assuming your proposition is correct that nonbelievers are immanentizing the eschaton, thereby validating your doomsday cult and its principles, you won't be getting into heaven.
Precisely. I'm an agnostic by logic and an atheist by belief. I can't *know* that there's no god, by the evidence so far leads me to believe that there isn't one.
Not really ... I don't believe in God or Gods. That makes me an atheist. For it to be a belief in the traditional religious sense I would have to acknowledge the possible existance of a God and then choose not to believe (or believe in the opposite thing). I simply exist without the belief in those things. If I thought something else moved the world and so on (A network of small elves on treadmills or some such thing.) that would make me something else. An elfist? Before anyone jumps on me - you're free to believe or not believe anything you so choose. My beliefs make me no better or worse a human than you.
yeah?!?! what did Marx say, religion is the opium for the masses. dumbs you down, puts blinders on your eyes and every different version thinks it is the ultimate version. looking at the mess we are in , in Iraq, thanks to bushies proclamation that God told him to do it. Which god? Exxon-Mobil and co-horts?
I am looking for a religion that offers a logical belief system and no concept of heresy. I have to believe that there is some higher power but refuse to accept that certain things are considered sins because they are deemed so according one persons interpretation of the bible. Religion is something that you believe in for yourself, not something you should apply to others. Anyone that says that you should act or behave in a certain way because it is the "will of God" is merely attempting to control you. If they have a logical explanation as to why you should act or behave a certain way, and you agree with that explanation, that is religion.
Yes, a true christian loves it when everyone else suffers because, see, I was right, you were wrong, Ha ha ha! oh wait, you're still suffering, it's not that funny... with no way to own up to your mistakes, because they weren't mistakes at the time, you thought. You just should've been born me and then you'd be in paradise. If there is an afterlife, everyone gets the same experience if the God is all power, or moral. If not, you're going to suffer anyway, or not exist after your own death (more likely). Please go give your life for God somehow, and prove yourself right. plz.
Besides the no religion thing, did anyone notice that Catholics are the largest group in most states? Interesting phenomenon in a supposedly Protestant nation.
