I keep a folder called Old Mail. After I read my mail, or have finished acting on it, I drop it into there. - Just my preference.

exactly, I'm sitting pretty with 1807 messages in my inbox, all stuff that deserves to be in there.The search tool in gmail is amazing as well

@ cogit0:There is a difference between 100-500 emails and 1,000+.After so long I sort out most of my inbox, send it to archives. But I keep the last few hundred in there for quick reference.And sending emails automatically all over the place just means more places I have to go look. Why do that?

Use your "labels" and use the spam filter and you should be fine...
