Or maybe none of his friends use Linux?I'm not only using Linux right now,I'm running Klikit on a live DVD. I know several people besides me who use Linux and it's only going to get more popular as time goes by.

I watched Steve Yegge's presentation at OSCON this year, and he was saying that it takes ONE GENERATION to restore a brand's image with the public. So yes, there are misconceptions about Linux, in the very same way everybody associates Windows with BSOD. I use Windows 2003 server (at work, that's how my employer's shop is set up) and I have not seen a BSOD in more than three years. But it will take a very long time to shake that off, as it will take for Linux to come across as user friendly. Sad. Three out of my five machines at home run single-boot Linux distros, and even the non-technical members of my family are perfectly happy with it (one box is an old G4 dual OS X / Ubuntu).

I started to use Ubuntu / Kubuntu last few months and I love it so much! Plan to switch to Kubuntu fully as I'm using both Win XP and Kubuntu currently. Long live Linux!

As a personal friend of site owner I can thank you all for killing his cable modem, or at least making it cry out in pain for several hours. And yes, it is a Linux Box. Suse Linux Enterprise Server (SLED) 10 at the time, but now hosted by 'normal' hosting company for bandwidth reasons.

#3...... True..but there are a LOT of apps that don't work with Linux. Also, a lot of graphic cards aren't compatible with Linux.. If I were to "make the switch", I'd no doubt still find myself having to use windows at some point.
