The best part is that Ford and GM has excellent cars out there in Europe (may be because you cannot treat the customers as dumb folks even if you want to sell just one car per year in Europe) It will be better if they bring most of 'em back here
Aren't some of these cars designed somewhere other than the USA? i.e. fiesta, astra and G8. Admittedly owned by American companies, but primarily designed for other markets.

The Astra is designed by Opel in Germany. The Focus and I believe the Fiesta as well are designed by Ford Germany in Cologne.
