I am glad that Firefox is going in the right direction with version 3. They are concentrating on improving performance, and adding subtle improvements to the interface. The beta 1 made me consider moving away from Opera, and I am hoping that the final release is good enough for that to happen.
I'm a big fan of using slower (slower not always equal to _old_ or _incapable_) systems. While the comment you made is true for firefox 2, hopefully with all these improvements it will not be the case for version 3.
I don't, if Fx3 is slow on that machine, you have some problems with it. Hell, I use Fx2 on a laptop with Pentium1 and it works fine (a little slow but not really noticeable)
I am using FireFox3 beta2 and i still get this problem. I think it makes whole firefox slower right?, when you have a page loading. I still keep Firefox 2 which stops loading quickly. And i have no special addons.

I code in Opera, and only ever have to change it for IE.

They've just realized that its better to LISTEN to your users than treat them like idiots.

I am a big fan of Firefox. I also believe it's in everyone best interest for IE competitors (such as Firefox and Opera) to keep pushing Microsoft. Besides, I like Firefox much more than IE. 'nuf said. New changes in this milestone are ...Crosstalk: http://dataland.wordpress.com/2007/12/20/firefox-3 ...

I am saying, that smoothscrolling (at least on my macbook pro) has a very slugish feel too it. Nowhere near as good as safari's.
