pcmag.com — When the iPhone came out in June, many people (myself included) loved it, but wanted it without the phone?and that pesky two-year contract with AT&T Wireless. I'm no Luddite, but I don't want my personal media player to ring in the middle of a song.

A hard drive would drain the battery life, though. I know alot of people would rather want an iPod Touch that's as thick as the iPod Video just to have 30+ GB of storage, but the iPod Video [or "Classic" now,] does not have a higher-end processor and wi-fi to power. When you mix the large bright touch display, the processor, internal amp, and wi-fi, the last thing you want tugging on even more power is an HDD. Plus, for something like the touch, you want it to be responsive and zippy -- something those little slow-spinning hard-drives can't keep up with. It's just like the PSP -- running a game from the memory card can save a bit of battery compared to running the UMD drive, and help load much faster. [-- and don't forget when wi-fi is turned on with the PSP. The battery is decimated.]

I hope people still are reading after it's been posted on the front page because I'm really wondering if someone can answer me if changing the flash memory is doable. I know its probably soldered onto the board, but if you're careful, could you upgrade the memory in this thing in a year or two? I just took apart my ipod 3g to add a new front cover and replace the battery and that was easy. I'm sure anything involving soldering would be an order of magnitude more difficult, but if it's possible, why not? I'm sure many of you like me are the do it yourself types.

I would still like to know how the music controls would work if the player is in your pocket or something. Would it be easy/not easy to control? Do I need to look at the screen to touch the right icons?

I do recall people doing this to the nano, just by soldering matching flash on top of the originals. Could it be a hoax? I don't remember, but i remember seeing it done.

Why is PC mag saying the Ipod has a slightly better screen and Engadget saying the Iphone has the slightly better screen?

well, i just got my ipod touch for christmas. It is very good. However i belive that apple could have made it even better. For example you can not add events on the calender why? thats what you do with a calender is it not? Another thing that it is lacking is the bluetooth. I can understand that they didnt have to keep cost lower but i would have happly paided the difference! However the functions that are with are excellent and i would recommend getting it. But i wouldnt spend all your money i would say get the 8GB. And today I've found my cool ipod touch case online occasionally! This Blue heart pattern and handy design makes my ipod touch be much more attractive for . http://www.sourcingmap.com/blue-heart-deluxe-plast ...This unique case gives my iPod Touch a great look and style. And it is supposed to give your ipod Touch protection from scratches and minor drops.Dust resistant and keep dust from absorbing on the iPod Touch protector case for much static charge.Aha,Perfect collocation,Does it?IMO, it is a great accessorie for a Apple iPod Touch owner to have. Sincerely I think they're just overpriced a little! So do my friends. But Don't listen to anyone. If u've got the money go for the touch as well as the phone too. Its ur life man!!! If u dont then nobody can help u. And only one thinger want 2 complaint:The company claims that the Touch can play music for up to 22 hours and video for up to five hours on a single battery charge, even with Wi-Fi turned on. But in my tests, using factory settings, music playback lasted just under 17 hours and video playback lasted just over four hours. Nearly every other iPod I?ve tested, including the new Nano, handily beat Apple?s battery claims. Despite these downsides, the Touch is a great media player, and the iPod remains the best end-to-end portable solution for playing and purchasing music and video.

Hi everyone. Just got my apple iphone. The amount of hype about this mobile is only second to the one on euthanasia! Anyways the following are my comments. The GOOD. The design, feel & display are super. Without doubt revolutionary. User interface is very easy. Have been used to Nokia for years, but adjusted within one day. Touch screen feels great & enough tools even for an above average mobile user. The NOT SO GOOD. Screen is so big ,smooth and luxuriant. But it prone to fingerprints & smudges.it's easy to catch dust, greasiness and fingerprint, and I even worried about scratchs and blows. Fortunately I've found three stylish and beautiful iphone cases http://www.easyipodshop.com/iPhone-Silicone-Skin-c ... to pretect my precious iphone and I can take it in various places with various beautiful appearances. And I even got a screen protector for it. So I think this would keep it in best condition. Slightly heavy & takes three hours to charge. Earphones are useless. But then that can be changed. Can't change battery & third party applications are useless. So no special ringtones. Just have to be pleased with the ones that are there. Which are terrible! A 2MP camera in these times. Wake up apple. The BAD. Battery Life is pathetic, drops calls & low signal (oops I thought that a mobile must do these basics at least) Needs a charge every day. Even after tricks to save battery Life.CONCLUSION. Overall a revolution in mobile handsets. Very good for those who are fashion conscious, like to carry music, wi fi, videos & make a few calls, few sms's a day. Also are not too demanding & less finicky (hope this is the right spelling) Bye :-).
