It's pretty lame they don't have VBA, that's for sure, but if they did get it working it would have taken even longer. That blog comment from one of the Office Mac developers said the VBA code is so old that there's no one at Microsoft that even knows how it works. All the people who originally wrote it left long ago. This really goes to show how much old crud is actually in Office.
Tried using Keynote. I WANTED to use Keynote. But Keynote didn't have the auto-fitting text. (Fit's text to the available space on the slide.) So--that was it for Keynote.
Probably because Office 2008 crashes constantly. The most recent beta that is circulating crashes when you open the Preview application while it is open, if you try to close a bracket, if you save twice in a row, its just awful. In its current state, its unusable. Hopefully everything is fixed by release (tomorrow)
