It is very common to want to know what the time is while you are busy (or running late) while those 5 seconds are more valuable.It's also MUCH easier to check the time when both hands are full with a watch. And when you are on the phone and want to check the time, it's annoying to have to stop talking (or listening) to the other party.Also, people who make assumptions about the value of other peoples time are ****s and no one likes them.
