physorg.com — Scientists are reporting synthesis of the world's first DNA molecule made almost of entirely artificial parts. The discovery could be used in the fields of gene therapy and other futuristic high-tech advances, such as nano-sized computers.

exactly my comment, science is business oriented, and this achievement is no exception.

Oh yes, I can see it now - DNA strip mines as far as the eye can see. Factories belching out clouds of waste proteins. Vast herds of ribosomes, grazing and stripping the land of all nutrients. Seriously, WTF!?

This is scary as hell. literally.I used to be happy about living in this age of high tech, but theyre going further than I ever imaged. The benefits are going to be wonderful but the abuses will be devastating and massive. This will change life as we know it. A nano computer of DNA structure? thats combining biological science with inanimate, non-living (not able to live) metal and electricity.FRANKENSTIENS could be a regular thing. What about the young teen who can actually build their own sex slave? How will we be able to tell the difference between real humans and man made when it goes that far?One thing science will never be able to create is a soul. That is still up to God.I wonder if Walt Disney will be ressurected? There will be a time when people will be able to die....Revelation 9:6 - And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.

Instead of getting rust on your biological computer, you'd get mold!Using unnatural parts helps prevent the DNA from being worked on by the same enzymes that work on natural DNA. Thus allowing us to create our own enzymes for the particular system.
