No it is bad for open source. Every developer who spends his time on IceWeasel is a potential firefox developer who has been lost. I HATE FORKS. they are worthless. and devs just end up competing with each other when they should be working together.

I hate forks too! Basically they simply divide the available manpower, to such an extent that no project makes concievable progress!
