I recommend you try Opera. While it doesn't have as many extensions, most of what I needed from extensions is in the default install anyway. If you don't like it, you can always switch back :)These memory problems were what made me switch from Firefox...
There is no denying the fact that there are some real issues with memory management, as anyone who uses Firefox for a period of time can confirm.Why Firefox is so SLOW & SLUGGISH to start and operate is another story!Why can't they fix the critical things like these BEFORE they add more features?
@spitfire6006006It's a one time download...who cares about the installer size.And my point is that Opera doesn't have the memory leak issue and does everything Firefox does and in most cases better because its built in and not tacked on as an "extension"

my opera browser was on overnight and has only used 11mb of memory, it is pretty much always 7mb-15mb

I'm on a mac, I've had firefox 1.5.0.7 open a few days, no extensions, its using 696MB real memory and 952MB of virtual memory. hmm.
