Unless Microsoft is coming with another new OS that forces/persuades Newbies to use IE, they will continue to decline. I think Firefox finally has the better reputation. There are just so many people, who don't know how to use a browser, that doesn't come pre-installed with the OS (i.e. my wife) and so many people who are afraid of any change. Otherwise we would see Firefox dominating the statistics already, I'm sure.

Safari lacks so many features it's not even funny. It has less features than Firefox does (sans extensions) out of the box, and has no viable solution to match extensions nor the already built-in features in Opera, like an email and BitTorrent client, feed reader, mouse guestures, speed dial, wand, notes, etc.As far as performance and speed, Opera still wins, mainly because Safari's speed results are not accurate. I'm not going to bother explaining it, but you can read all about it here:http://www.howtocreate.co.uk/safaribenchmarks.htmlSpeed tests should also include how fast a page loads in your history, since the most popular feature in any browser is the Back button. Opera's caching system is much faster and nicer than Safari's (or Firefox for that matter). Then, of course, customization wise, Opera has a lot more to offer than what Safari gives you.

Another way of saying they "can't tell the difference" is that whatever they are using probably works fine for them.
