Does this bother anyone else?"Mozilla makes money through sources such as Google ads included on the Firefox search results page. Parakey, on the other hand, is launching with profit in mind."
Parakey will turn your computer into a seamless extension of the web. Ning lets you design your own web sites. That's not what I would call "exactly the same thing."
@r2d7 "It's suitably hypocritical for digg users to embrace a project that's only "mostly" open source and built around a "for profit" model. After all the crap that's heaped on commercial software and anything non-physical that costs money it makes me giggle."Considering the number of vocal Apple and MS fanboys floating around digg, I scratch my head at that. The thing that makes me giggle is that this isn't even the first, second, or third attempt at doing something like this. I remember seeing an extremely slick Windows-like platform-agnostic system written in Java years ago, and it took off like a lead zeppelin. And whatever happened to the OEone Mozilla platform that gave us Mozilla Calendar? I'm looking at the Axentra website, and I'm not seeing anything that suggests that I can get an ultra user-friendly experience via Mozilla tech on my desktop machine. Well, there's mention of a 'web' reference platform, but that's as close as I get.Not that I'm expecting this to tank…I'm just saying the 'for-profit let's-do-Windows-better-than-MS' model has tanked repeatedly and spectacularly.
Well, its fair idea,.... but I don?t think that, your concept behind the "Parakey" for making it universal , incorporating every thing with-in a single platform will be much successful. First of all its not even an totally unique idea, only blind folded people cant see that big wig like Google, yahoo as well as msn has already done that....( One ID and excess to all services - upload video, make website, Web page, or blog etc.) ....n success or popularity will or rather i say already depends on how well they interlink all of their services. Relatively, The recent homepage makeover was also a step forward......As for you (Firefox KID), may be you like to compress the everything further and achieve better interactivity between all the services...........best of luck from me.....But I don?t think, it make same kind of stir, what firefox did..... I also wrote a post "next big thing" (<a class="user" href="http://websoup.blogspot.com/2006/01/most-promising-things-on-internetnext.html)">http://websoup.blogspot.com/2006/01/most-promising-things-on-internetnext.html)</a> long time back, but things have changed since then. Some of them are dying slow death because various reasons but some of them are here to stay........one advice for all the Net entrepreneur ...."Think small n useful, rather than Big.??Because power of multiplicity is always on your side " ....!!Good luck to da Firefox Kid and everyOne with dreams!!Good Day ALL !Amit Dixit
Firefox is the next big thing. Its ability to be customizable and ease of use is making it a huge hit with people world wide. I speculate that the number of fire fox downloads will greatly increase with the spread of popularity.
