networkworld.com— A group of Firefox users so determined to destroy IE that some sites now "actually block users with IE from viewing the page, informing them they must install Firefox to view the site."

Ho hum, more stupid Firefox zealots. This whole idea is about as retarded as me saying "You can't use my site unless you're using Opera!"This isn't comparable to most of those IE-only pages either, because many times those pages are like that because of a feature which is in fact IE-specific (or handled in a different way in IE), so they do it for compatibility. Google is a good example of someone who has done this many times, like with Google Calendar recently. These people here are just trying to force folks to change browsers while shoving money in their pockets for doing no work. They're not helping fix anything, only to cause aggravation to the user. The user, mind you, who will most likely just not visit that site anymore if it means switching browsers. Instead of wasting time on that, how about developing the skills to make code work properly in all three major browsers, which so many of these kinds of people are incapable of doing, who instead take the lazy way by saying "USE FIREFOX, STUPID".
Let's not forget about people who browse at work, libraries, cafes, etc on someone else's machine. So, if a site says "install this or that browser," system admins will have a choice, but everyone else would be screwed. This isn't going to catch on, because it just doesn't make sense. Most sites WANT traffic and DONT WANT to piss off visitors. I don't see that changing.***But*** this could be very effective if just one extremely popular site or person gave it a go. Say, an American Idol site or some mickey mouse teen "talent." If the stars lined up just right, you could see millions of Firefox installations over night. How about a "5 Free iTunes Downloads" site...that would do the trick, too....that's my take.

I agree with astrotrain. FireFox has so much to offer, users need to be shown benefits and not block IE from their websites. You know what is hilarious? A business that forces users to use Internet Explorer:http://www.easy-forex.com/Gateway.aspx?gid=5420&pid=1If you visit the page with FireFox it says "Currently, this site does not support FireFox (Mozilla), however, we plan to furnish our platform for FireFox users in the near future."

Most hackers won't target an open source program and hurt the free software community.

Even if you hate IE It's lame to block support for it.
