neothoughts.com — The Smart Digg Button uses the newly released Digg API to determine if the web page you are currently viewing has been submitted to Digg. If it has, it displays the number of Diggs the page has. If not, you can submit the story by pressing the button.

I don't think a URL can be submitted more than once. But in that event, it would retrieve results for the most recent submission.

You only submit a small percentage of pages you visit to Digg. This extension checks every page you visit so it wastes server resources. It's better for Digg to use the "dumb" button.

My vote is it's better. With Digg Me Latter, you get that green box at the top of the page and the only option is to "digg it" or close. With this, it sits nicely at the bottom of firefox and shows the diggs on any page you visit. If you are at a page you'd like to digg or view comments about, when you click the Smart Digg Button it brings you to the digg page for that story. (Once there you'll have can digg it.)

This extension is da'bomb, but I do wonder, does my page load and then it checks to see if it was dugg or does it check first and load the page?By the way, why has no one dugg this page, yet? lol.

not enough people are installing this extension. I'm already seeing too many dupes, this will decrease the dupes! This should be a mandatory installation for every digg user.

I'd rather a button up top or something, since I have "Autohide the taskbar" but still, it's useful
