linuxhaxor.net — While there will always be fanboys who prefer one browser over another (where the hell is my Opera on webkit?) - the one thing that we can agree on is that its a winning situation for everyone as all these rendering engines, javascript engines and, in the case of Chrome and Firefox, browsers are open source.

Even if he did use a Mac and had set it to be able to boot into OSX, Windows and Ubuntu, that still doesn't negate the differences in overhead brought on by the operating system itself though. It also means that there still isn't enough information given by the writer to validate his point. If we have to make assumptions to his testing, then his findings aren't thorough and no where near conclusive. What would have happened if he used the latest build for firefox for windows? Or if he used the Linux port of Chrome instead? Why did he chose to do it that way? There's too much possible variability and not enough information given.

You think old jokes are still funny?

Google decided to do their own JavaScript engine, which in hindsight doesn't look very smart anymore. I'm sure Google has very talented engineers working on their project, but their Javascript engine was supposed to be the fastest evar, but WebKit is already beating them. It would have been smarter for Google to combine efforts with WebKit on WebKit's JavaScript engine, especially in since Chrome's engine has not been the revolution Google promised.

YOU are retarded because the tests were done on the same machine

Um, You can't very well make an objective comparison of browsers when they are each running on a different operating system! Where are the controls?

I would hardly say those stats are eating someone for breakfast. Also as a programmer you cannot really compare alpha software with production in terms of performance. Their javascript engine may very well bloat before it gets to production. As you try to add stability and checks to your code your performance will suffer.
