tgdaily.com — Installing and running Firefox 3.1 beta 1 is a revealing experience. Just like Chrome reminded us a few weeks ago, the basics of a browser matter. We have been using Firefox 3.1 beta 1 for a day now and we have come to two conclusions: We refuse to go back to a previous version and Microsoft’s Internet Explorer is in deep trouble.

I keep getting "Error launching browser window:no XBL Binding" When I try to start firefox 3.1, running Ubuntu 8.04, I've tried deleting ~/.mozilla, running ./firefox-bin --safe-mode, It's happened in all of the nightly/beta/alpha builds, but it doesn't happen with 3.0.3. I've also asked Freenode:#firefox and irc.mozilla.org:#firefox, no one seems to be able to fix it. Has this happened to anyone else?

It's likely turned off because it isn't really ready for mass consumption yet. Many people might download and try the beta, but if the Javascript engine breaks a lot of sites, people might yell and whine at Mozilla for including it. Shipping it disabled solves that problem.
