blog.karlt.net— I mentioned a couple of months ago that there was room to improve Firefox's memory use for font handling on Linux. With Firefox 3.1 Beta 2, you can now enjoy these improvements.

Cheap RAM (and cheap storage as well for that matter) is NOT an excuse for code inefficiency. When I'm running Firefox with 5 tabs open and it's using 200MB (which in and of itself is horrible), and I leave Firefox running for a couple hours and come back to my computer to see that it's now using 400MB, there is a huge problem, whether I have 1GB of RAM or 128GB of RAM, or whether RAM is more valuable than gold or if RAM is cheaper than air.
He's right though. I followed your link, and the author is a tool that doesn't mention any security concerns or the need for caution. She stupidly asserts that there are no trojans because scans came up clean at install. Of course it came up clean, if I were a malware author, I would have it load the malware/trojan AFTER install when I had convinced the stupid user to give my app ADMIN RIGHTS.If this program is so great, why don't the authors contribute their code to the Mozilla team? After all, their program is free and they have nothing to hide...You're free to be stupid if you like, but don't spread that s**t here.
This is not true for Microsoft in present day. Although being a die-hard Firefox fan, I want to point out that, the next version of Windows called Windows 7 uses 40% less memory than Windows VistaWhile Vista uses ~750 MB when idle on a 2 GB machine, Windows 7 uses ~480 MB with Aero running on the same machine
