blogs.zdnet.com — Previous benchmark tests that I?d carried out on my Mac mini had shown that Safari 3.1 was the fastest browser for the Mac OS X. Firefox 3.0 Beta 5 changes that.Using the SunSpider JavaScript benchmark test my testing shows that Firefox 3.0 Beta 5 holds a 7% lead over Safari 3.1.

You don't block ads? And that's a serious question, because I am honestly curious about people who choose not to. of course you could be blocking them before they even reach the browser... or you never surf web ages that contain ads.

"a lot faster..." Exaggeration isn't necessary. If your talking about default settings then this maybe the case. However a few simple default settings in Firefox only have to be changed to give Firefox a BIG speed boost. Once that has been done the difference between Webkit and Firefox 3 beta 5 are miniscule. But besides speed, Firefox offers far more in features and extensibility than Safari. I like Safari and sometimes I fire it up but overall Firefox is still King of Browsers.

One of the selling points of Firefox is the extensions; if you haven't found at least 1 you like yet, you haven't been looking (or you are a casual internet user). Adblock, Flashgot, Greasemonkey, Stylish, IE Tab, StumbleUpon, All-in-one-sidebar, del.icio.us. Then you can really get into the specialized extensions. I used one for OneNote, and the most obvious one to even you should be the Digg extension for Firefox. When you get some free time you should really browse through some of the add-ons and take a look.https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/

Uh, MacBook Pro here, I don't see anything "washed out" about my pages in Firefox. Are you talking about skins? Try this:http://www.takebacktheweb.org/
