wiki.mozilla.org— The Mozilla Organization is set to release a public version of Firefox 2.0 Alpha 1 for public testing this Friday!

What's the big deal? There's new builds every day in the "Trunk" folders at FTP mirrors. The most obvious change is that Javascript is much faster. For those needing to up the maxVersion of an extension, see http://tinyurl.com/al34y
What's the point of announcing this to the world on digg? It's not like it will be feature complete, it's an alpha. The developers prefer not to make a big deal about alpha and beta versions because all it does is give people a bad impression.
It will be great, itf just gonna be a better firefox with built in RSS what more do we need. You could always use Explorer ha. But wait for the alpha release to end before trying I think would be a good idea.
"Some of my extensions haven't even been updated for the recent 1.5.01 release...I think I'll wait awhile to try 2.0 and preserve my customized functionality..."The MRTech local install extension provides some excellent features like make compatible which will in most cases take care of the Max Version problem when updating. It's a great extension.
Any links to where you can download this? I've serched the either web, and I cannot find a download link. I dont think its comming out until later, lol.

I wonder if this release is a responce to Opera's release this week at labs.opera.com :)?

This is a link to a draft page, a plan that was made long ago, and as with everything, this will be delayed for sure.

I'm hoping Firefox 2.0 learns 3 important words in the world of OS X:"Respect the dock"

In-line spell check - It's worth it just for that. It's one feature that Safari shines for on the Mac (if using WordService).
