Lame. Found 0 farms within 100 miles of my home and I live in the country. The only thing thats grown around here is wheat and durum and I am not about to start grinding my own flour and living on bread alone.
I take that as a "welcome to the government". Where I live, we can still go out to a farm and buy cow from him, shoot it and have the butcher along to aid in the butchering process. Of course it is not legal for sale an only personal consumtion but I have ate it all my life and it is great. I am more scared of the stuff in the stores.

That is something you should consider. Get in touch with the local produce line - it may be worth the effort even though it is grown 300 miles away...

Living in Southern California, we many farmer's markets to choose from. Even in winter, we have really good options.
