Only one other person has said it, but it is a real remedy. It works every time I have ever had the hiccups. Just eat a teaspoon of Peanut Butter. It seriously works.
similar post above but THIS WORKS FOR EVERYONE WHO HAS TRIED IT as it breaks the rythm. Block nose and ears, swallow 3 times. if you do it properly the 3rd time will be a real bitch but it will break the hiccup rythm.
My cure is to blow out all of the air in my lungs...and without taking another breath, I hold my breath as long as I can. You will feel pressure in your lungs, try to hold it as long as you can....this usually does the trick for me...
at last someone has said this! this ALWAYS works for me, gets all the oxygen outta yer blood cells or something, had to come all the way down here to the bottom of the page to see this
@diggdon: Bahahaha, man, I'm glad I just set my coffee cup down seconds before reading your awesome pseudo-medical advice. I really hope it was intentional. By the way, since today is quack medical advice day, don't forget that if you swallow bubblegum, it won't come out for 7 years.
If I'm really lucky, I'll stop them immediately after the first hiccup. The way to do this is to push hard with your gut and force yourself to burp. Even swallowing a little air to encourage a large burp can help. About 70% of the time, after the first hiccup, that burp will restore balance to the force and all is well.
I've been bitching about the lack of a real hiccup cure for a long time. I am sick of all the idiotic home remedies that don't work for actual problem hiccups. People who really have an issue with hiccups are constantly dismissed or insulted by those who don't share the problem. WIse up, people! And by the way, galvanic action is basic science. Bio-electric therapy is common. This simple device is an adaptation of a 'Vagus nerve stimulator' sometimes used in hospitals. Thorazine is another medical treatment for problem hiccups. Seems like a household item like the Hic-Cup is a better option. Check out http://HiccupHell.blogspot.com... seems like the device is getting great reviews from people who have actually tried it.
"This stainless cup and the brass should create measurable current in the range of 100-150 millivolts with just water. The typical chlorine residual treated city water would work very well as would well water with a higher calcium content. "Hey WebMD..... You should try reading more before making suggestions.... 'current' is measured in 'amps' (i.e. miliamps) not 'volts' (i.e. milivolts)...You just gotts love these Internet 'know-it-alls'.......
