wired.com — The soon-to-be-available Sirius Stiletto 100 is a $350 portable satellite receiver/MP3 player that, among other things, connects via Wi-Fi to the internet so you can listen to Sirius stations without using Sirius's satellites.

It's $300 because it can connect to the satellite feed. So not only are you able to go online, you are also able to connect to a service that you probably already have (if you're buying the Stiletto, that is). If you have SIRIUS, dropping $300 to have essentially an iPod that can connect to your satellite service is very useful. If you don't have satellite radio, then it really probably isn't for you, yet, unless you sign up for their internet radio service, which I'm dubious as to whether it may or may not catch on. Depending on whether or not they're going to get deeper into picking up podcasts. The more they do that, the more popular their internet radio will get, as being able to have your favorite podcasts (knowing many others are hearing it as well) AND being able to get RIAA-legal music will have its appeal. (Regardless of your feelings on the RIAA, everyone still listens to the artists whose souls they own.)So, right now, a lot is up in the air, and there are a lot of plausible possibilities with what direction SIRIUS is going to take this. Going to keep my eye on it, but I'm not selling off my iPod yet.

Now available on Crutchfield's website since Sept. 1. Check it out, way better than that grainy shot although overall, I'm not "floored" by its innovative design features.http://www.crutchfield.com/S-e7AUBnTJTlO/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=250050&id=morephotos&pi=1&i=607SL100&display=L#Tab

I guarantee that whatever 'cheapo plastic' Sirius makes this from will scratch less than an iPod.

Hmmm. I thought Zune was the iPod killer. Now Stiletto is the iPod killer? Maybe baby Zune and baby Stiletto will wind up killing each other while big mama iPod goes sailing on.
