Does anyone know if Rockbox will work with iPod style controllers (i.e. car CD changer style connections for the iPod)? The Rockbox wiki didn't cover it.
Rockbox is cool, and I've dabbled with it several times on my 5G iPod... BUT, it sucks up battery power a lot faster than the original firmware/os, no album art, and it still lacks the ability to play xvid/divx files. If/when divx/xvid is implemented, I'll switch to Rockbox for good.
i ran linux on my 5g about 7-8 months ago. it was a pain in the ass but totally worth it in the end. me and a freind started on a windows installer but gave up on that pretty fast, i hope they've got it easier now

There's a pretty easy install wizard called Rockbox Installer X here: http://www.ipodwizard.net/showthread.php?t=15153 .. pretty straight forward. Worst case scenario, you can reset the iPod through iTunes if you manage to screw it up.

I did it all by Mac. It beats the auto-installer on Windows by ALOT.
